STADA has a local sales company in the United Kingdom: Genus
Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Newburry.
In the United Kingdom, sales increased in financial year 2010 by 2% applying the exchange rates of the previous year or by 6% in euro to EUR 54.4 million (previous year: EUR 51.3 million).
This was due primarily to the contribution of branded products, which with EUR 39.7 million (previous year: EUR 33.8 million) achieved a share of 73% (previous year: 66%) in British sales in 2010. With generics, for which STADA continues to be a niche provider in the United Kingdom of selected generics with only a few active pharmaceutical ingredients, the Group achieved sales in financial year 2010 in the amount of EUR 14.7 million (previous year: EUR 17.5 million) and thus a 27% share of local sales (previous year: 34%).
Operating profitability of the British business was, as expected, above Group average in 2010.
In the United Kingdom applying last year´s exchange rates sales decreased in the first nine months of 2011 by 1% or in euro by 2% to EUR 39.0 million (1-9/2010: EUR 40.0 million).
